Joyce El-Khoury, Davone Tines, Matthias Winckhler, & Núria Rial Star in L’Auditori’s 2025-26 Season

L’Auditori presents its 2025-26 season, “Renaixements.” For the purpose of this article only vocal works are included.

Beethoven’s “Symphony” No. 9 stars Joyce El-Khoury, Silvia Tro Santafé, Elgan Llyr Thomas, and Davone Tines. They are joined by the Orfeó Català and the Barcelona and National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC) under the direction of Ludovic Morlot.

Performance Dates: October 3 & 4, 2025


Sara Mingardo, Ilker Arcayüker, Matthias Winckhler, and Arttu Kataja, with the The National Capella of Catalonia perform in Mendelssohn’s “Die erste Walpurgisnacht Ballad.” Le Concert des Nations is led by Jordi Savall.

Performance Date: October 14, 2025 


Núria Rial serves as soloist in Mompou’s “Selection of songs” and Gerhard’s “Els ballaires dins un sac.” Ludovic Morlot conducts the OBC.

Elena Copons performs in Casals’ “Ballad of the nova Solveig” with the OBC. Josep Caballé Domenech conducts.

Julia Farrés-Llongueras and Elías Arranz sing works by Puccini, Donizetti,  Ponchielli, and Verdi in “Morning at the Opera.” Rafa Agulló conducts Barcelona Municipal Band.

Anna Bonitatibus and the Vespres d’Arnadí baroque orchestra present works by Vivaldi. Dani Espasa leads from the harpsichord.

Sorozábal’s “Lieder” is performed by Miren Urbieta-Vega. Antonio Méndez leads the Euskadiko Orkestra.

The “Catalan Christmas Carols” features the Bruckner Choir of Barcelona and the Madrigal Choir, conducted by Júlia Sesé and Pere Lluís Biosca, respectively. María Hinojosa solos.

Works by Carles Prat are performed by community choirs from Catalonia.

“Missa pro Defunctis” by de Morales is performed by Jove Capella Reial de Catalunya. Lluís Vilamajó conducts.

Anna Andreu and Nil Ciuró’s new work based on Purcell’s “Dido & Aeneas” is performed.

Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir and pianist Kunal Lahiry give the national premiere of L’Auditori’s co-commission from Maria Huld Markan, along with works by Haydn, Rachmaninoff, Sibelius, Barber, Muhly, Pritchard, and Wallen.

National Youth Choir of Catalonia performs works by Casals, Fitó, Gasull, Casablancas, Brotons, and Guinovart. Mireia Barrera directs.

Marta Mathéu and pianist Miquel Villalba present a concert of works by Gerhard, Cercós, Torrents, Brotons, and Montsalvatge, among others.

Vincent de Soomer presents “Händel & Friends” for school-aged children.

Elionor Martínez, Lara Morgen, Ilker Arcayürek, and Manuel Walser are soloists in Beethoven’s “Christus am Ölberge” and Haydn’s “Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze.” They perform with La Capella Nacional de Catalunya and Le Concert des Nations. Jordi Savall conducts.

Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” is presented by the Collegium Vocale Gent orchestra and choir. Philippe Herreweghe conducts.

La Grande Chapelle performs motets, antiphons, litanies, and psalms by Palestrina.

Carlos Mena and Tiento Nuovo perform works by Bach. Ignacio Prego leads from the harpsichord.

Laura Mejía performs works by Mozart arranged by Eduard Iniesta in the children’s event “Mamemi… Mozart!”

Magdalena Kožená and lutenist Daniele Caminiti perform pieces from the 17th century, as well as the “Sequenza” for solo voice by Berio.

Ars Nova Copenhagen give the national premiere of Shaw’s “How to fold the wind,” and a new work by Gabriella Smith.

La Capella Real de Catalunya and the Les Musiciennes du Concert des Nations perform a concert of works by Vivaldi. Jordi Savall conducts.

Christiane Karg sings the “Final Scene” in Strauss’ “Capriccio” with the Gürzenich Orchestra of Cologne. Andrés Orozco-Estrada conducts.

A concert version of Valls’ “Cançó d’amor i de guerra” stars Marta Mathéu, Vicent Ombuena, Toni Marsol, and Andreu Miret. The Coral Cantiga and Polifónica de Puig-Reig, led by Montserrat Meneses and Emmanuel Niubò, respectively, also perform. They are joined by the Barcelona Municipal Band. José R. Pascual-Vilaplana directs.

Chloé Briot, Liv Redpath, Rihab Chaieb, Rinat Shaham, Jean Sébastien Bou, Nicolas Courjal, Martin Bakari, and Sylvia Schartz solo in Ravel’s “L’enfant et les sortilèges.” They are joined by Orfeó Català, the Children’s Choir of the Orfeó Català, and the OBC.  Ludovic Morlot conducts.

Cor Bachcelona Akademie and Bachcelona Consort alongside the soloists awarded the Salvat Bach Scholarship perform in the final concert. Lluís Vilamajó conducts.
