On Sept. 4 and 10, 2026, Maria José Siri will sing her 200th performance of the title role of “Aida.”

The soprano will perform the role at the Arena di Verona, where she has sung for several years.

Siri’s journey with “Aida” began in 2003 in Argentina, at the Teatro El Círculo in Rosario and later went on to perform the role a the  Staatsoper Stuttgart, Teatro Massimo, Teatro alla Scala, Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, Festival de Sanxay, Bregenzer Festspiele, Hamburg State Opera, Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, the Sodre in Montevideo and at the Cairo Opera House.

She has also performed in productions by Franco Zeffirelli, Calixto Bieito, Gianfranco de Bosio, David McVicar, Ferzan Özpetek, Stefano Poda and Graham Vick and been conducted by Marco Armiliato, Daniel Barenboim, Andrea Battistoni, Gustavo Dudamel, Manfred Honeck, Michele Mariotti, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Christian Thielemann, Omer Meir Wellber and many others.
