The 86th Quincena Musical de San Sebastián has unveiled its upcoming season. Here is a breakdown of upcoming vocal performances.

“Rossini’s Stabat Mater” will feature the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, conducted by Mark Elder, will be joined by the Orfeón Donostiarra, conducted by José Antonio Sáinz Alfaro. Soloists include soprano Federica Lombardi, tenor Xabier Anduaga, and bass Will Thomas. Also on the program is Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36.

“Amaya” (Concert Version) will be performed by Euskadiko Orkestra and Easo Abesbatza, conducted by Diego Martin-Etxebarria. The cast features Arantza Ezenarro as Amaya, Gillen Munguía as Teodosio, and Marifé Nogales as Amagoya.

Xabier Anduaga and Maciej Pikulski will perform arias by Verdi, Donizetti, Massenet, and Gounod, as well as songs by Tosti, Bellini, Liszt, and Hahn.

“West Side Story” will be performed by Euskadiko Orkestra and Easo Abesbatza and conducted by Clark Rundell. The cast features Miren Urbieta-Vega as María, Caspar Singh as Tony, and Nerea Berraondo as Anita.

The Orquesta Nacional de España will be conducted by David Afkham in a performance of Wagner’s “The Ring Without Words,” arranged by Lorin Maazel.

Le Concert des Nations, conducted by Jordi Savall, will feature Sara Mingardo as mezzo-soprano, Ilker Arcayürek as tenor, Matthias Winckhler and Arttu Kataja as baritones, in Mendelssohn’s “The First Night of Walpurgis.” Also on the program is Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A minor “Scottish.”

Performance Date: Aug. 24, 2025

The Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and Orfeón Donostiarra, conducted by Andris Nelsons, will feature Julia Kleiter and Christian Gerhaher in Brahms’ “A German Requiem.” Also on the program is Mendelssohn’s “Symphony No. 5.”
