
Donald Brinegar Singers & JPL Chorus Present Fauré Concert
By Afton MarkayThe Donald Brinegar Singers and the JPL Chorus will present a concert of masterworks by Gabriel Fauré on June 1.
The concert showcases some of Fauré’s most loved compositions, such as “Cantique de Jean Racine” and “Requiem,” Op. 48. Also, this concert marks the world premiere arrangement by David García Saldaña of Faure’s “Tristesse.” Dr. Brinegar conducts. Alan Geier is the pianist.
Dr. Brinegar directed the Choral Studies program at Pasadena City College for 36 years and now holds the title of Professor Emeritus of Music. Composer-in-Residence for the Donald Brinegar Singers, García Saldaña is Los Angeles-based Chican@ composer, writer, and singer. The choruses recently premiered his “Christmas Cantata” and “Canciones de Nochebuena.”
The concert will take place at 4 p.m. at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church in La Cañada Flintridge, CA.
