The Donald Brinegar Singers and JPL Chorus will celebrate the 80th birthday of Morten Lauridsen on Feb. 28, 2023, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Pasadena, California.

“Morten Lauridsen at 80” will feature the composer’s choral music, including selections from “Mid-Winter Songs” (with poetry by Robert Graves), “Madrigali,” “Chansons Des Roses,” “Lux Aeterna,” “Nocturnes and Prayer” (Dana Gioia’s elegy for his son).

Conductor Donald Brinegar, who has worked with Lauridsen for many years, will lead the performance. Moreover, “Intercession in Late October” from “Mid-Winter Songs” was dedicated to Brinegar.

The Donald Brinegar Singers was founded in 1997 and gave its first performance in November of that year.
