Carlos Álvarez and Rocío Ignacio are set to give a recital at the Bilbao Opera on April 17.

The two stars will perform at the Sociedad Filarmónica Bilbao for a socially distanced audience in scenes from “Henry VIII,” “Louise,” “Hamlet,” “Turandot,” “Zazà,” “Pagliacci,” “Un ballo in maschera,” “Simon Boccanegra,” and “Il Trovatore.” Rubén Fernández Aguirre will accompany the two soloists.

Álvarez will sing arias “Qui donc commande…” from “Henry VIII” by Saint-Säens, “Zazà piccola zíngara…” from “Zazà” by Leoncavallo, and “Eri tu” from “Un ballo in maschera” by Verdi. Meanwhile Ignacio will sing “Depuis le jour” from “Louise” by  Charpentier, “Signore ascolta” from “Turandot” by Puccini, and “Come in quest’ora bruna” from “Simon Boccanegra” by Verdi.

The two will then team up for duets from “Hamlet,” “Pagliacci,” and “Il Trovatore.”

The recital follows the success of Lisette Oropesa and Anita Rachvelishvili in February and March. The ABAO will present several other recitals and concerts in coming weeks. On April 24, ABAO On Stage will bring together eight great artists as homage to culture: Carmen Solís, Itziar de Unda, Silvia Tro Santafé, Celso Albelo, Sergio Escobar, Moisés Marín, Juan Jesús Rodríguez, and Simón Orfila. The company will also present recitals featuring Sondra Radvanovsky (May 1) and Sonya Yoncheva (May 22), followed by “Tosca on Stage,” a recital featuring Ainhoa Arteta, Teodor Ilincai, and Roberto Frontali (May 29).
