The ABAO Bilbao Ópera has announced that it will present a series of concerts, with the first taking place in February 2021.

Between February and May 2021, six recitals will be held in collaboration with different institutions in Bilbao, such as the Euskaduna Palace or the Bilbao Philharmonic Society.

Famed soprano Lisette Oropesa will open the series of recitals on Feb. 6, 2021 at 7:00 p.m CET at the Euskaduna Palace. The soprano will be accompanied by pianist Ruben Fernández. The program for the concert will feature works by Mercadante, Schubert, Donizetti, Poulenc, Bizet, Rossini, Bellini, Manuel García, Massenet, and Meyerbeer.

Oropesa recently performed the role of Violetta Valéry in Verdi’s “La Traviata” at Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real de Madrid, and the Metropolitan Opera House; the role of Konstanze in Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” at the Wiener Staatsoper; and the role of Rosina in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at Opéra National de Paris, among others.

The soprano is scheduled to return to the stage for a production of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” alongside Piotr Beczała at the Opernhaus Zürich in June and July 2021.

The ABAO Bilbao Ópera recently canceled productions of Saint-Saëns “Samson et Dalila,” as well as the whole run of Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore” with Elena Sancho Pereg, Itziar de Unda, Joel Prieto, and Moisés Marín.
