Washington Performing Arts Moves New Season Away from Kennedy Center

By Francisco Salazar

Washington Performing Arts is moving its 2025-26 season away from the Kennedy Center.

The music presenter will instead showcase its season at the Music Center at Strathmore and Lisner Auditorium.

In a statement, the Washington Performing Arts spokesperson said the presenter works to “thoughtfully match artists and their work with venues that best serve the art, the audience, and the moment…We assessed the variety of artists and performances we have in this upcoming season and decided it was best to explore new spaces that offer fresh possibilities.”

The news comes a week after the Kennedy Center announced its 2025-26 season, which will include “Chicago,” “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” and “Moulin Rouge! The Musical.”

It also comes after the Washington National Opera announced its season at the Kennedy Center without “Fellow Travelers,”  which the creators pulled from the season due to President Trump’s policies that ran counter to the values of “freedom and liberty for all people.”
