
Union Avenue Opera Provides Updates on Damage to Performance Home
By David SalazarUnion Avenue Opera plans to move forward with its upcoming season despite damage to the Union Avenue Christian Church, the company’s home for 30 years.
Per a series of updates on its official website on Friday, May 16, 2025, the St. Louis-based company revealed that the church had taken sustained damage during a severe weather event in the area.
On May 19, 2025, the company posted that it had been on site and assessed the damage to establish the next steps so that it could move forward with the upcoming festival season. “We’re feeling hopeful and optimistic that we’ll be able to move forward with our 31st Festival Season right here at UAO,” the post noted. “Thank you to everyone who has checked in on us. We have felt your support, and it means the world. We’re here with our community and holding close all those who are facing the challenges of storm recovery.”
The festival is set to open on July 5 with “My Fair Lady.” Other productions on the slate include a double bill of “Josephine” and “Pagliacci,” as well as “Salome” and the One-Act Festival.
