The Village Trip Unveils 2025 Festival

The Village Trip festival has unveiled its 2025 slate.

First up is the premiere of a new song cycle by David Amram. “Five American Voices” is a work that sets the writings of Carolyn Cassady, Leslie Marmon Silko, Ron Whitehead, Ted Joans, and Tom Piazza to music. The piece was commissioned by the Roger Shapiro Fund and will be interpreted by baritone James C. Martin and pianist Lynn Raley.

Performance Date: Sept. 19, 2025


Then comes “Are you Alive, Djuna?!” a program featuring music by composer Victoria Bonds. Sopranos Sharon Harms and Zoe Allen will feature alongside baritones Michael Kelly and Nehemiah Luckett. Pianists on the program include John Arida, Joan Forsyth, and Christopher Allen.

This program is presented in collaboration with Cutting Edge Concerts.

Performance Date: Sept. 24, 2025


Soprano Eleanor Valkenburg will perform alongside Poetica Musica in a program featuring works by Ives, Bartok, Piazzolla, Gershwin, and Anderson.

Performance Date: Sept. 26, 2025


The season ends with “Ciabatta Cantata,” a program featuring Composers Concordance and music for chorus, guitar, and theorbo by such composers as Gene Pritsker, Dan Cooper, and William Kentner Anderson.
