The Music Troupe to Showcase Edward Lambert’s ‘In Five Years’ Time’

By David Salazar

The Music Troupe will present “In Five Years’ Time” at The Space Theatre, London, with performances on Feb. 24 – 28, 2026 before traveling to The Croft Hall, Hungerford for a showcase on March 1, 2026.

The 110-minute show is a drama in song based on Federico García Lorca’s surrealist play “Así que pasen cinco años.” Written five years before Lorca’s execution at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, the work later came to be viewed as prophetic. Composer Edward Lambert adapted the work into a cabaret-style operatic work for eight singers performing 14 roles.

Tenor James Schouten appears as the Poet, performing alongside Rosalind Dobson, Lucy Gibbs, Mae Heydorn, Jean-Max Lattemann, Chris Murphy, James Schouten, and Thomas Stevenson.

Alistair Burton serves as musical director and pianist, with Jing Jia on accordion. The creative team also includes stage director Walter Hall, lighting designer Simon Pike, and movement director Jenny Weston.

Since 2013, The Music Troupe has presented 15 of these works in London, Brighton, Manchester, Yorkshire, and Berkshire, with regular appearances at Tête-à-Tête: The Opera Festival.
