
The Crossing Announces 2026-27 Season
By Afton MarkayThe four-time Grammy Award-winning chamber choir The Crossing announces its 2026-27 season conducted by Donald Nally.
The season opens with the concert titled “Time” which features the east coast premiere of Nicholas Cline’s “The Sea Came Up and Drowned,” along with Joshua Stamper’s “’mid the steep sky’s commotion.”
Performance Date: Oct. 25, 2026 (Philadelphia, PA)
The Crossing gives the world premiere of the multimedia piece, “How to Survive” by Suzanne Bocanegra with music Hildur Guðnadóttir, Shara Nova, Julia Wolfe, and Ayanna Woods.
Performance Dates: Nov. 19, 2026 –January 3, 2027 (Philadelphia, PA)
As part of the Jeffrey Dinsmore Memorial Concerts the choir presents “The Crossing @ Christmas.”
Performance Dates: Dec. 18 & 19, (Philadelphia, PA) Dec. 20, 2026 (NYC)
The world premiere of the staged version of David Lang ‘s “poor hymnal” is directed by Annie-B Parson.
Performance Dates: Jan. 29 & 30, (Richmond, VA), Feb. 15 & 17, (Huston, TX) Feb. 19-21, 2027 (Chapel Hill, NC)
The New York premiere of David Lang’s “before and after nature” features Bang on a Can All-Stars, with production design by Tal Rosner.
Performance Dates: April 9, 2027 (NYC)
The Crossing gives the concert “what belongs to me” featuring music by Gabriela Ortiz, Shara Nova, and Ayanna Woods.
Performance Dates: April 17, (Philadelphia, PA) April 18, 2027 (Pittsburgh, PA)
Up next is “The Month of Moderns 2027” featuring the JACK Quartet.
