The Crossing Unveils 2025-26 Season

Philadelphia’s The Crossing has announced its 2025-26 season.

First up is “Unalienable,” which includes the world premiere of Nina Shekhar’s “Tic-Talk” as well as the first live performance of the 2024 pre-election video “Cloud Anthem” by Michael Gilbertson. Also on the program is the world premiere of Kile Smith’s “Let all the Strains of Joy (mingle in my last song.” Performances are set to take place at The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill and First Presbyterian Church in Germantown. The latter showcase is presented in partnership with Artcinia.

Performance Dates: Oct. 18 & 19, 2025


Next up is “Self-Evident,” a concert featuring the world premiere of Christopher Cerrone’s “Of being Numerous.” Also on the program is Caroline Shaw’s “Ochre.” Also performing on the program is Present Music. The performances are set to take place at The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill and Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee.

Performance Dates: Nov. 21 & 23, 2025


“Our Lives, Our Fortunes, Our Sacred Honor” features the world premieres of Sarah Rimkus’ “Nativity” and Natalia Tsupryk’s “Kyiv.” The performances take place at St. Mark’s Church and The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill.

Performance Dates: Dec. 19 & 21, 2025


Next up is “To Provide new Guards for their Future Security,” a program alongside the Boston Symphony. The performance includes the new edition of David Lang’s “poor hymnal” and the East Coast premiere of Carlos Simon’s “Good News Mass.” Both showcases take place at Symphony Hall in Boston.

Performance Dates: Jan. 29 & 31, 2026


“Rectitude” sees The Crossing at Bing Concert Hall at Stanford University as they present Meltzer’s “You Are Who I Love” with Sandbox Percussion and works by Ēriks Ešenvalds and Sarah Rimkus.

Performance Dates: Feb. 25, 2026


Then comes “Declare the Causes,” featuring Tania León’s “Singsong,” Wang Lu’s “At Which Point,” and Ayanna Woods’ “Infinite Body.” The three performances will take place at the Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey, St. Luke and the Epiphany in Philadelphia (presented in partnership with Artcinia and Carnegie Hall.

Performance Dates: March 21 – 24, 2026


In June, the company presents “The Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God,” which features works by Nicole Lizée, David Lang, Shara Nova, Julia Wolfe, Michael Gordon, Stratis Minakakis, John Luther Adams, Edie Hill, Caroline Shaw, and Gabriel Jackson.

Performance Dates: June 6 & 7, 2026


“Created Equal” features The Crossing alongside The Philadelphia Orchestra as they take on Peter Boyer’s “A Hundred Years On” at The Mann Center for the Performing Arts.

Performance Dates: June 1, 2026


“Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness” closes out the season and features a world premiere by Nathalie Joachim as well as works by such composers as Jennifer Higdon, Kile Smith, Robert Maggio, Julia Wolfe, James Primosch, Benjamin C.S. Boyle, and Tyshawn Sorey.

Performance Dates: Jun 27 & 28, 2026
