The Canadian Opera Company Announces Lineup For Free Concert Series 2024
By OperaWireThe Canadian Opera Company has released the details of its Free Concert Series.
Programming features nearly 70 performances of music, dance, poetry, and more in downtown Toronto. The Free Concert Series runs each year from Sept. to May and spotlights local and international artists in performances spanning a wide array of genres. It celebrates classical repertoire and musical traditions from around the world.
Operatic performances include presentations by Canadian Opera Company mainstage artists Samuel Chan, Isaiah Bell, Teiya Kasahara 笠原 貞野 with Chihiro Yasufuku 安福 知優, and Lauren Fagan, as well as Artists of the COC Ensemble Studio, Queen Hezumuryango, Wesley Harrison, and pianists Brian Cho and Mattia Senesi. There will also be performances given by Grace Quinsey, John Holland and pianist William Shookhoff, Sara Schabas and Alex Hetherington with pianist Alexey Shafirov, Karoline Podolak, and Korin Thomas-Smith, Spencer Britten, and Chuanyuan Liu with pianist Jialiang Zhu. Other ensembles featured are The Toronto Consort, Opera Atelier, Opera 5, That Choir, and University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music.

The festival returns on Sept. 25. All events are held at the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre.
