Handel and Haydn Society to Make Carnegie Hall Debut This May

By David Salazar

The Handel and Haydn Society will make its Carnegie Hall debut on May 14, 2026.

The program, centering on Bach and Telemann, features soprano Robin Johannsen, countertenor Christopher Lowrey, tenor Guy Cutting, and bass-baritone Dingle Yardell joined by the H+H Orchestra performing on period instruments. The 211-year-old Boston ensemble will be led by Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen.

Following the Carnegie Hall performance, the program will be presented at Old South Church in Boston’s Copley Square on May 15 and at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge on May 16, both at 7:30 p.m.

“I very much look forward to sharing this beautiful and profound program with audiences in New York and Boston,” said Cohen, per an official press release. “When immersed in the sound-world of Bach and Telemann, one finds inspiration and renewal.”

Pre-concert talks led by Teresa Neff, H+H’s Christopher Hogwood Historically Informed Performance Fellow, will take place 45 minutes before the Old South Church performance and one hour before the Sanders Theatre performance.
