PENTATONE Celebrates ‘The Father’s’ Oscar Wins

By Francisco Salazar

PENTATONE is celebrating the two Oscar wins for “The Father.”

In a statement, the company said, “We are proud to announce that the music from our recording of ‘Les Pêcheurs de Perles’ with Les Cris de Paris, the Orchestre Nationale de Lille and Alexander Bloch was used as part of the soundtrack of ‘The Father,’ which has been awarded with two Oscars: Anthony Hopkins being named Best Actor, and the writer and director Florian Zeller sharing the award for Best Adapted Screenplay with co-writer Christopher Hampton.’

The film used the romance “Je crois entendre encore,” sung by Cyrille Dubois, a piece that Hopkins said was one of his favorite pieces of music.

OperaWire wrote an analysis on the use of opera in the film and how it is used to immerse the viewer deeper into Anthony’s mind.

“The Father” was nominated for six Academy Awards and ended up winning two for Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor.
