Ópera Queer Heads to Buenos Aires’ Teatro Picadero

By David Salazar

Teatro Picadero in Buenos Aires will host Ópera Queer this August.

Starting on August 2, and with ensuing performances on the 16, 23, and 30, the company will showcase La Ferni and Luchi de Gyldenfeldt as they perform alongside pianist Jazmín Tiscornia. The program spotlights Luchi as she tries to narrate the story of an opera, only to be constantly interrupted by her sister La Ferni and her insistence on “opera being boring.” The ensuing showcase sees the two mix classics with more popular pieces in a unique mix.

The performance includes costumes and props by Vedette, makeup and hair styling by Deb Torquato, and lighting design by Flor Ayos.

All performances start at 11:59 p.m. local time.

Ópera Queer was founded in 2016 and has performed throughout Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe, and Jujuy, among other regions.
