Buenos Aires’ Compañía de Ópera del DAMus (Departamento de Artes Musicales y Sonoras) of the Universidad Nacional de las Artes will present “La Fille du Régiment” starting on Nov. 26, 2023.

Running through Dec. 3, 2023, the showcase will be presented at the Teatro Hasta Trilce on Nov. 26 and Dec. 3, and then at the Centro de Difusión y Producción de las Artes on Dec. 1 and 2.

The Donizetti opera stars Guadalupe Sánchez and Marianella Nervi Fadol as Marie wth tenors Luca Eizaguirre and Ramiro Cony as Tonio. Other cast members include Naim Munier, Cristian Chun, Erica Alcon, Gabriela Bernedo, Matías Medina, Luca Cristaldi, Marta Blanco, and Matías Pollitzer.

Marta Blanco conducts and Bea Odoriz directs.

Per an official press release, “The version of ‘La Fille du Régiment’ that the Compañía de Ópera del DAMUS-UNA will spotlight is the sentiment of belonging to a group and the love that comes about from those within it. The idea of the ‘group’ is a major part of the directorial intent. In this mis-en-scène, there is no emphasis on the military gorup. The regiment is presented as a group united by festivities, laughter, that has a desire to dance and sing, while also possessing certain clumsiness while struggling with the challenges of accepting those who aren’t part of the group.”
