OPERA America Names Recipients of 2025 Marineau Opera Grants for Women Stage Directors & Conductors

OPERA America has announced its 2025 Marineau Opera Grants for Women Stage Directors and Conductors.

The winners include Rebekah Heller for her work with American Opera Projects on “Barcelona, Map of Shadows; Chelsea Gallo, who will conduct “Carmen” at Dayton Performing Arts Alliance; Chía Patiño who will lead “The House on Mango Street” at The Glimmerglass Festival; Kaneza Schaal for her production of “Aida” at Houston Grand Opera; Mila Henry at Opera Columbus with “The Old Man and the Sea;” Jenny Koons who will direct “Sleepers Awake” at Opera Philadelphia; conductor Sahar Nouri, who leads “La Traviata” with Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera; San Francisco Opera’s “The Monkey King” director Diane Paulus; and Anna Laura Miszerak, who will director “L’Amico Fritz” at Teatro Grattacielo.

The awarded companies are subsidized up to 50 percent for the contract fees of a woman stage director or conductor.
