
New Orleans Opera Names Clare Burovac Producing Artistic Director, Announces 2026-27 Season Plans
By David SalazarNew Orleans Opera has named Clare Burovac Producing Artistic Director for the 2026-27 season, marking her return to the company after previously serving as its General and Artistic Director.
The news was revealed in a letter penned by Stephanie Laurent, Executive Director of the New Orleans Opera.
Moreover, Laurent revealed some plans for the upcoming season. The season will include a Distinguished Artist Concert Series held throughout the year at the Guild Home, a semi-staged production with narration of “Il Trovatore” at the Mahalia Jackson Theater on Nov. 20, and the 2027 New Orleans Opera Festival in March 2027. The Women’s Guild will also present a series of concerts featuring the next generation of opera talent through its Emerging Artist Series.
Per a letter from the company, the November production of “Il Trovatore” will take lieu of the previously postponed “Der Rosenkavalier.” Patrons currently holding tickets for that production will be contacted directly by the box office regarding options to honor their purchase.
The company will also host a Scenic Studio Open House on Sept. 12, offering patrons a look at its operations and further details on the upcoming season.
