
Jonas Kaufmann Cancels Teatro San Carlo Concert
By Francisco SalazarThe Teatro San Carlo has announced a cast change for its July 17 concert.
The company stated that due to indisposition, tenor Jonas Kaufmann will no long be able to perform alongside Ludovic Tézier. As a result, tenor Brian Jagde will replace Kaufmann. The program will include music by Verdi, Puccini, and Poncheilli.
The cancelation comes after Kaufmann was forced to annul his participation in a recital at the Bayerische Staatsoper on July 13. The tenor canceled due to an infection and on the advice by his doctor that he rest his voice. He returns to the stage July 22 at the Puccini Festival.
Jagde recently performed at the Teatro San Carlo in “Turandot” and this summer returns to the Arena di Verona and Puccini Festival.
