Marlene Hahn has been appointed new General Director of Opera Graz from 2028-29.

The decision was unanimous and Hahn prevailed against a total of 25 competitors in a highly competitive field.

Hahn most recently served as chief dramaturge at the Oper Leipzig and is considered an excellent networker in the industry. She has also worked in New York City in the field of marketing and sales management and Brecht and Mozart Festivals. Hahn has also served as an assistant director for opera productions at the Augsburg Theatre.

In a statement, Provincial Councillor for Culture Karlheinz Kornhäusl said, “With Marlene Hahn, a personality is taking over who combines artistic quality, openness to new target groups, and economic responsibility. I am convinced that she will successfully lead the Oper Graz into the future with new impetus.”
