Oper Graz Cancels Performances Following Deadly Shooting

Oper Graz has canceled all performances until further notice following the tragic shooting that left 11 dead.

The company released a statement noting, “It is with great shock and deep sympathy that we respond to the shooting that occurred in our city today. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragic event. Out of respect and sympathy, we are suspending game operations until further notice – at least until Friday. We will keep you updated on further developments.”

In response to the shooting, other companies in Austria have held moments of silence before performances.

On June 10, 2025, a former student opened fire at a school in Graz and killed 11 students and then took his own life. According to the Associated Press, there were no immediate details on the motive. However, it was revealed that he used two weapons, which he owned legally.
