
Wiener Staatsoper Releases Statement Following Deadly Shooting in Graz

The company said, “We grieve together. The Bundestheater will hold a minute of silence before every performance. Together in silence, our thoughts will be with the dead and injured.”
The shooting occurred on June 10, 2025, when a former student opened fire at a school in Graz and killed 11 students and then took his own life. According to the Associated Press, there were no immediate details on the motive. However, it was revealed that he used two weapons, which he owned legally.
According to BBC there will be a period of national mourning which will begin tomorrow for three days, with a nationwide minute of silence starting at 10:00 local time.
