The Lucerne Festival has announced its Forward 2027 season. The autumn festival, “Forward,” dedicated to contemporary music, is curated by Jörg Widmann.

This years theme, “Echoes of Schumann,” will bring old and new into dialogue and explore the fascination that Robert Schumann continues to hold for composers today

Here are the vocal performances.

The Ensemble of the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra under Christian Jost will perform arrangements of Dichterliebe for soprano and ensemble after Robert Schumann’s Dichterliebe, Op. 48 and Schumannliebe for baritone and ensemble. Fatma Said and Matthias Goerne are the soloists.

Performance Date: Nov. 21, 2026

The Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra (LFCO) and SWR Radio Choir under conductor Heinz Holliger will perform Robert Schumann, Aribert Reimann, and György Kurtág.
