John Holiday, Jessica Jones & Vivica Genaux Lead Florentine Opera’s 2021-22 Season

The Florentine Opera in Wisconsin has announced that its 2021-22 season will be a ReSeason which will include some of the originally planned 2020-21 season performances.

The season opens with Verdi’s “Rigoletto” starring Todd Thomas in the title role, Jessica Jones, Scott Quinn, Alan Higgs, and Olivia Vote.

Omer Ben Seadia directs the production with Francesco Milioto conducting.

Performance Dates: Oct. 8 & 10, 2021

Taylor-Alexis Dupont, Nathaniel Catasca, Ardeen Pierre, and Roberto Berrocal star in “Luisa Fernanda.”

Performance Dates: Feb. 11 & 13, 2021

Viadot’s “Cinderella” and Ravel’s “The Child and the Enchantments” will form a new double bill directed by Jill Anna Ponasik. Ugo Mahieux performs on piano and conducts a cast that includes Annie Rosen, Juliet Petrus, Andres Acosta, Kathryn Henry, Ugo Mahieux, Jill Anna Ponasik, Leia Lensing, and Seunghee Lee.

Performance Dates: March 11-20, 2022

Chuck Hudson directs Puccini’s “La Bohème” with Domenico Boyajian conducting. Frederick Ballentine, Michelle Johnson, Sidney Outlaw, Kelobogile Besong, Corey McGee, and Vince Wallace star.

Performance Dates: May 6 & 8, 2022

Concerts

The company will open the season with Flora and Fauna.

Performance Dates: July 17, 2021 (July 18, 2021 Rain Date)

The company will present Opera Favorites al fresco.

Performance Date: August 13, 2021 (August 15, 2021 Rain Date)

John Holiday will present a concert al fresco featuring music by Ella Fitzgerald and opera classics.

Performance Date: Sept. 1, 2021 (Sept. 2, 2021 Rain Date)

Florentine Opera will present Quartet X2 showcasing the Baumgartner Studio Artists and some of Milwaukee’s top chamber music talent.

Performance Dates: Nov. 19 & 20, 2021

In celebration of the holiday season, the company will present Carols and Classics.

Performance Dates: Dec. 10-14, 2021

Rowan Pierce from “Bridgerton” will present a concert.

Performance Date: Jan. 20, 2022

The Florentine Opera will present a program entitled a Descent into madness featuring Baumgartner Studio Artists exploring extremes in song.

Performance Date: April 8 & 9 2022

Vivica Genaux and Jory Vinikour perform baroque gems in a one-night-only concert.

Performance Date: April 20, 2022
