
Druid City Opera to Present ‘Don Pasquale’
By David SalazarDruid City Opera has announced the cast for its June 2026 production of Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Paul Houghtaling is set to take on the title role, with Indianapolis-based tenor Ganson Salmon as Ernesto and Alabama artists Daniel Seigel and Kathleen Buccleugh as Malatesta and Norina. The company also revealed that soprano Shelby Stephens, tenor Joshua Jones, baritone Joel Rogier, and bass-baritone Benjamin Somervell will cover the main cast.
The production, which opens on June 4, 2026, features the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra under the musical direction of Richard Masters. Claire Choquette will direct the production.
Now in its fifth season, Druid City Opera is in residence at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and is the only professional opera company serving west central Alabama.
