By David Salazar

Cimarron Opera will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Patience” June 26–28 at the Nancy O’Brian Center for the Performing Arts in Norman, Oklahoma.

The cast is led by Christen May Meyer in the title role, with Taylor Reich as Reginald Bunthorne and Kacey Dillon Yeargain as Archibald Grosvenor. They are joined by Alix Golden, Sarah Spurlin, Annie Elliot, Karena Van Horn, Pat Meirick, Braden Henson, and Jarrett Cox. Meyer, Reich, Yeargain, Golden, and Van Horn make their Cimarron Opera debuts in the production.

Nicholas Bartell directs and Mason Smith conducts, with musical direction by Kevin W. Smith and choreography by Kassie Carroll Downey. Smith also makes his Cimarron Opera debut.

“Patience has been an incredible process,” said Bartell, per an official press release. “Everyone has brought not only their amazing talents, but also an unabashed dedication to the idea of play, allowing us to explore so many comedic ideas that we can’t wait to share with you. From staging to choreography, we hope our emphasis on movement and exploration of the space sheds joyful light on this timeless show.”

The production is part of Cimarron Opera’s annual summer Gilbert and Sullivan program, which runs alongside its Summer Opera Theater Camp and engages performers ranging from young students to established adult artists.
