Opera Grand Rapids will present Jake Heggie’s “Three Decembers” this November.

The opera, which will take the stage of the Betty Van Andel Opera Center on Nov. 6 and 7, will be directed by Guest Artistic Director Cara Consilvio and conducted by Chaowen Ting. Heather Johnson sings Madeline, Amanda Sheriff sings Beatrice and Brian James Myer sings Charlie.

The opera explores the relationship of Broadway actress Madeline Mitchell with her two adult children, Charlie and Beatrice, across December of 1986, 1996 and 2006.

“Three Decembers is a deeply moving story about family, memory, and the relationships that shape us,” Executive Director Emilee Shen said, per an official press release. “We’re excited to share it with West Michigan audiences.”
