Atlanta Opera to Present ‘Frankenstein’ for Halloween

The Atlanta Opera is set to present a special one-night-only showing of the 1931 James Whale-directed classic film “Frankenstein” starring Boris Karloff and Colin Clive.

The evening will be presented at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center on Oct. 28, 2023. The film will be presented with a score by Michael Shapiro that will he will conduct performed live by The Atlanta Opera Orchestra and singers to further embellish the piece.

Audience members will be invited to dress up in costumes for the “best” and/or “worst” dressed contest. There will also be a post-performance party with a DJ, dancing, and a cash bar in the two lobby levels at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center.

Four of the five singers are young artists selected to be part of The Atlanta Opera Studio Artist program. The artists include Amanda Sheriff (soprano), Aubrey Odle (mezzo-soprano), Kameron Lopreore (tenor), Jason Zacher (bass-baritone). Joining these four in the performance of Frankenstein is Andrew Gilstrap (bass-baritone), a familiar performer and popular with the Atlanta audience.
