By Nicolas Quiroga

The Atlanta Opera has unveiled the lineup of Glynn Studio Artists for its upcoming 2023-2024 season.

The selected artists include mezzo-soprano Aubrey Odle, soprano Amanda Sheriff, director Nora Winsler, and bass-baritone Jason Zacher, meanwhile tenor Kameron Lopreore has been chosen for a second season. The Studio Artists will be given training and stage experience, including some lead performances and major concert showcases.

“We founded our Studio Artist program in 2016 with a simple goal to discover and nurture talented performers,” said Tomer Zvulun, the Carl W. Knobloch General & Artistic Director, in an official statement issued by the company. “Singers expand their skills and knowledge with the training and opportunity they get here, and many have gone on to significant careers. This year, we continue our program with the confidence that these amazing young artists are the foundation of the future of opera.”

Lopreore joined The Atlanta Opera Studio Artists during the 2022-24 season and also appeared at the Santa Fe Opera. Odle has performed with Lyric Opera of Kansas City and joins the Des Moines Metro Opera for its 2023 summer season. Sheriff is a Young Artist with the Glimmerglass Festival and is set to appear with Opera Bozeman next season. Winsler has worked with such organizations as Virginia Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera, among others. Finally, Zacher has worked with such companies as Glimmerglass, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Kentucky Opera.

The Studio Artists will work with a group of coaches and clinicians including David Okerlund (Principal Vocal Clinician), Kevin Burdette (Principal Dramatic Clinician), Walter Huff (Principal Guest Coach), Stefano Baldasseroni (Italian Diction Coach), Marianne Barrett (German Diction Coach), and Pierre Vallet (French Diction Coach).
