Young People’s Chorus of New York City Takes to The Green at Lincoln Center for Pop-Up Concert

By Logan Martell

On July 11, 2021, the Young People’s Chorus of New York City will perform a pop-up concert on The Green at Lincoln Center, titled “Continuum Presents: Young People’s Chorus of New York City ‘Ready, Set, Sing!’”

The program will represent music from four continents, and draw from genres such as musical theatre, pop, opera, folk, and spirituals, among others. The performance, which marks the YPC’s first in 16 months, comes as part of “Continuum,” a new, three-year project at Lincoln Center headed by Nicolas Kendall of the classical string trio “Time For Three.”

“Continuum was created with a mission to create beautiful moments where artist expression and community feel something together. Our main goal is to build community through art,” said Kendall in a press release.  “This event is the perfect representation of that mission.  We’re very excited for the community to feel the spirit and energy the talented young YPC choristers bring to their performances, and our hope is that during the sing-along they find inspiration surrounded by children that truly look like the beautiful fabric of NYC and feel something wonderful.”

The concert is free and open to the public, with QR codes available to provide listeners with lyrics for the program.
