
Friedrich Praetorius Appointed Music Director of Staatstheater Braunschweig
By Francisco SalazarFriedrich Praetorius has been appointed General Music Director of the Staatstheater Braunschweig.
As Music Director Praetorius will debut on August 22 with a special production of “Der Freischütz.” The performance will be out door on the historic Burgplatz, the heart of the city of Braunschweig, to mark the start of the season.
Praetorius is currently the Principal Conductor and Assistant to Donald Runnicles at Deutsche Oper Berlin and is set to become the Principal Guest Conductor of Oper Leipzig in a future season.
He has conducted at the Staatskapelle Weimar, Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin, Württembergische Philharmonie and Rheinische Philharmonie.
