York Early Music Christmas Festival Unveils 2025 Season

The York Early Music Christmas Festival announces its programming for 2025.

Rory McCleery, Artistic Director of The Marian Consort leads a choral workshop for SATB singers.

Helen Charlston and Sholto Kynoch present works by Fanny Hensel, Felix Mendelssohn, Carl Loewe, and  Robert Schumann.

Performance Date: December 6, 2025


Bethany Seymour, Nicholas Mulroy, and Frederick Long solo with the Yorkshire Bach Choir in Haydn’s “The Creation.”

Performance Date: December 6, 2025


Daniel Thomson and lutist Sam Brown perform music by John Dowland, John Daniel, Alfonso Ferrabosco, Thomas Morley and Barry Mills, with words by William Shakespeare.

Performance Date: December 7, 2025


Dominique Saulnier, Elspeth Piggott, Joy Sutcliffe, Sophie Overin, Will Wright, Daniel Lewis, Jon Stainsby, and Christopher Webb perform with The Marion Consort and English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble. The program celebrates the 500th anniversary of Palestrina.

APOLLO5 which features Clare Stewart, Penelope Appleyard, Thomas Mottershead, Joseph Taylor, and Augustus Perkins Ray present “The Crimson Sun” with works by William Byrd, Guerrero, and Handel.

Performance Date: December 9, 2025


Myriam Lowe solos with the Lowe Ensemble in Handel’s Spanish cantata, “No se emendará jamás,” and Lully’s “Sé que me muero de amor” from “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme.” They also give the debut performance of their own arrangement of “Fandango, R. 146” by Antonio Soler.

The Fieri Consort and Camerata Øresund perform Christmas cantatas by Christoph Graupner as well as English tavern songs. Hannah Ely, Steph Dillon, Kieran White, and Ben Rowarth are soloists.
