Apollo5 Brings on New Tenor Joseph Taylor

By Afton Wooten

Vocal ensemble Apollo5 has announced tenor Joseph Taylor as its newest member.

Taylor has served as a lay clerk at Manchester Cathedral and has sung with Kantos Chamber Choir and on the Genesis Sixteen program. Since finishing his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Taylor took on an apprenticeship with The Monteverdi Choir and co-founded his own ensemble, The Mancunium Consort. He will join the group in August as they begin the 2024/25 season.

Taylor shared his enthusiasm in a press release by saying, “I’ve always been inspired by the way Apollo 5 performs, educates, and creates music. Becoming a part of such a tight-knit group feels like a dream come true, and I can’t wait to get started!”

The new appointment to the group also means saying farewell to long-standing member Oli Martin-Smith, who will continue his final activities with the group until August 2024. Martin-Smith will perform at concerts at Grange Park Opera and the VOCES8 Foundation Milton Abbey International Festival in July, and Summer at Snape Maltings in August.
