Spoleto Festival USA has announced that Timothy Myers will be the company’s new Music Director.

Myers is the Music Director at Austin Opera and has performed with such organizations as the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Santa Fe Opera, Washington National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Opera Philadelphia, and the Wexford Festival. He has also been a speaker at the SXSW Festival, Harvard Business School, The University of Texas at Austin, and Miami Dade College, among others. He is also the host of the “Listening on Purpose” podcast.

In the new role, Myers, who made his company debut in 2023 in “Vanessa” will take on the annual formation, which is instrumental to the company’s program. He will lead the organization in two concerts in 2024.

“I am thrilled to welcome Tim to the artistic leadership at Spoleto Festival,” said CEO and Festival General Director Mena Mark Hanna in an official press statement issued by the company. “He is an exceptionally talented musician who is passionate about fostering next generation talent, producing innovative new works, and reenvisioning the classical canon, all core tenets of Spoleto’s mission. Under Tim’s leadership, we can expect much more creative interplay between the Festival Orchestra with our jazz, chamber, and choral programs and across the artistic continuum of Spoleto.”
