Thompson Street Opera Company to Present ‘Groundwater’
By David SalazarChicago’s Thompson Street Opera Company will present “Groundwater” this June at the Bramble Arts Loft.
The piece by Flannery Cunningham is a multi-media work that explores “the human relationship with water– a life-giving resource, a vessel for human memory, and a casualty of the progress of civilization. Interweaving voice, clarinet, viola, cello, and piano with live electronics and video.”
Pianist and conductor Nicholas Pothier leads the production with vocalist Carolyn Sundlof Boudreau and dance-choreographer Emma Draves leading the creative team.
The production opens on June 20 and runs through the 29th for a total of six performances. The performance has a duration of one hour with no intermission.
On June 21, there will also be a special industry night where audiences are invited to stay after the show to get a chance to interact with the opera and theater community.
“Groundwater” was made possible by a grant from The Saints of Chicago.
