Amelia Island Opera has received a $15,000 award from the Terry Family Foundation to purchase sheet music for community participants in the company’s inaugural Community “Sing-Along Messiah.”

The showcase is Nov. 29, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Amelia Plantation Chapel in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

The grant will allow up to 300 community members to receive scores at no cost, enabling them to join professional soloists as the chorus for the performance. Singers of all experience levels are invited to participate.

“Messiah belongs to the community, and this award allows us to place the music directly into people’s hands,” said Artistic Director John Tibbetts, per an official press release. “Instead of asking audiences only to listen, we are inviting them to participate in one of the most enduring works in the classical repertoire.”

The performance will feature mezzo-soprano Katherine Kincaid and tenor Edward Brennan alongside Amelia Island Opera co-founders Robyn Lamp and Tibbetts, with Curt Tucker conducting and Arthur Bosarge at the piano. The program will include familiar selections from Händel’s oratorio.

The Community Sing-Along Messiah is part of the company’s sixth season, “From Page to Stage.”
