Teatro San Carlo di Napoli Announces Cast Change for ‘Tosca’

The Teatro San Carlo di Napoli has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of “Tosca.”

The company noted that due to sudden illness, Lucas Meachem will be replaced in the role of Il Barone Scarpia by Gabriele Viviani for the performances of “Tosca” scheduled from April 20 to May 3.

The news comes a week after Meachem signed onto sing his role debut of “Scarpia” replacing Ildar Abdrazakov, who was forced to cancel due to personal reasons.

Viviani joins a cast that includes Oksana Dyka in the title role, Jonas Kaufmann, and Antonello Palombi. Juraj Valčuha conducts the production by Edoardo De Angelis.

“Tosca” opens on April 20 and runs through May 3, 2022.
