Pergolesi Spontini Festival “Disarming Accords”

Maria Olimpia Renna solos in a concert featuring works by Gershwin and Bernstein. Marco Attura directs the Time Machine Ensemble.

Raphael Gualazzi gives a piano and voice recital highlighting music from soundtracks to divertissements on operatic arias, from tributes to African-American traditions to rhapsodic forays into memorable themes from Italian and international music.

Liszt’s “Via Crucis” is performed by the Choir of the Almo Collegio Borromeo of Pavia. Soloists are to be announced. Claudia Benassi is the reciter. Alessandro Marangoni accompanies on the organ and Marco Berrini is choirmaster.

The Pergolesi Spontini Foundation presents its project, “Social Opera.” The OperaH Company performs music by Puccini with students from the School-Work Training project. This project aims to connect local social services, schools, and cultural organizations to jointly develop paths of inclusion and well-being through the experience of the stage.

Traditional Opera Season 

Verdi’s “Requiem” features soloists Yuliya Tchacenko, Mariangela Marini, Davide Giusti, and Alessandro Abis. They are joined by the ARCOM Choir. Manlio Benzi conducts.

The world premiere of “The Adventures of Pinco Pallino” by Gianluca Piombo stars Maria Olimpia Renna, Lorenzo Giossi, and Damiano Massaccesi. They are accompanied by musicians from the Senzaspine Orchestra conducted on piano by Gianluca Piombo. Lorenzo Giossi is dramaturgy and director. Set, costume, and lighting design are by Marco Scattolini.

Bizet’s “Carmen” is reworked and conducted by Andrea Magnelli and adapted by Matteo Bonotto. Over 1,000 students and teachers from the “Carlo Urbani” and “Lorenzo Lotto” comprehensive schools of Jesi, the “Marchetti” school of Senigallia, the “R. Sanzio” school of Falconara Marittima, the “C. Giulio Cesare” school of Osimo, the “Coldigioco-Mestica” school of Cingoli, the Corinaldo Institute, the Ostra Institute, and the Arcevia-Montecarotto Institute make up the cast and creative team. Stefano Scognamiglio directs.

The “Opera nei Borghi” project presents a comic opera in two acts by Spontini and Piccinni. Staging is by young American artists, in collaboration with the Centro Studi Italiani Opera Festival of Urbania and FIO Italia – Festival of International Opera. The Time Machine Ensemble is led by Kristin Ditlow. Nicole Kenley-Miller directs.

Puccini ‘s “Il trittico” is next. Among the cast is Alessandra di Giorgio, Arlene Miatto Albeldas, Elena Antonini, Francesca Maionchi, Massimo Cavalletti, and Giulio Pelligra. Pasquale Veleno leads the Ventidio Basso Choir of Ascoli Piceno. Paul-Émile Fourny directs the new production. Stefano Vignati conducts the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana.

Bruno Taddia takes on the title role in Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale.” Joining the cast is Antonio Mandrillo and Nikoletta Hertsak. The Ventidio Basso Choir of Ascoli Piceno is directed by Pasquale Veleno. Danila Grassi conducts the Time Machine Ensemble.

The world premiere of Salvatore Passantino and Marco Malvaldi’s “L’operazione” features Aloisa Aisemberg, Giacomo Medici, and Maria Olimpia Renna. Italo Nunziata will design the direction, Oscar Frosio will be lighting the show, and the winners of the Svoboda Competition will be designing the sets and costumes. The Time Machine Ensemble accompanies with Eddi De Nadai directing.

Verdi’s “Nabucco” stars Fabian Veloz, Julija Vasiljeva, Joseph Dahdah, Alberto Comes, Elena Antonini, and Simone Fenotti. The Marchigiano Lyric Choir is conducted by Massimo Fiocchi Malaspina. Paul-Émile Fourny directs. Sets are by Benito Leonori and costumes are by Giovanna Fiorentini. The Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana is conducted by Marco Attura.
