Teatro de la Maestranza Reschedules ‘El Barberillo de Lavapiés’

The Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville has rescheduled the zarzuela “El barberillo de Lavapiés” for the 2020-21 season.

The zarzuela was suspended due to the coronavirus COVID-19 and is now set to be presented on Sept. 1 and 2, 2020.

The co-production with the Teatro de la Zarzuela is set to be directed by Alfedo Sanzol and is set to star Spanish singers Borja Quiza, Cristina Faus, and María Miró.

“El barberillo de Lavapiés” was set to be presented at the beginning of May.

The Teatro de la Maestranza is the latest institution to reschedule a production following other companies as the Fort Worth Opera, Bayreuth Festival, Opera Philadelphia, and Nashville Opera.

The 2020-21 season has already been announced with casting yet to be revealed.
