Sasha Amaya’s reinterpretation of Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” will tour Romania in September as part of the CONNECT Contemporary Dance Festival.

“ORFEO,” which premiered at Tanzfabrik Berlin before performances at Radialsystem, will be presented at the Constanța State Theatre on Sept. 4, followed by a site-responsive version at the Art Museum Constanța on Sept. 5. The tour will conclude at the National Centre for Dance in Bucharest on Sept. 6, where a Q&A with Amaya will follow the performance.

The 85-minute work brings together an international ensemble of dancers and singers and reinterprets Monteverdi’s 1607 opera through choreography and music.

Amaya is a Colombian-Canadian choreographer and director based in Berlin whose work has been presented at Radialsystem and Tanzfabrik Berlin.

The Romanian tour will also include workshops in Constanța and Bucharest.
