
Soprano Rachel Nicholls Among Headliners of Kestrel Music’s Summer Music in City Churches Festival 2026

Kestrel Music’s Summer Music in City Churches festival returns June 16 to 26, 2026, with a nine-day program spread across five historic churches in London’s Square Mile. Here is a rundown of vocal performances on offer.
The City of London Choir, led by Musical Director and Principal Conductor Daniel Hyde, appears on two occasions. First up, the ensemble presents a “Festival Choral Evensong” at St Giles-without-Cripplegate, with canticles, responses, and anthems associated with cathedrals across Great Britain, accompanied by organist Paul Greally.

The festival’s Family Concert on June 20 at St Mary-at-Hill brings together the City of London Choir, youth choir Hackney Choral, and members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Hyde’s direction for a program including John Rutter’s “London Town” and “Look at the World.”

Soprano Rachel Nicholls joins pianist Michael Dussek on June 23 at St Giles-without-Cripplegate for “Invitation to Journey,” a recital of French and English song encompassing works by Walton, Duparc, Poulenc, and Debussy.

The City of London Choir closes the festival St Giles-without-Cripplegate with “Highlands and Islands,” a program of British choral song featuring works by George Shearing, Elgar, Britten, Finzi, and traditional folksong arrangements by Grainger and Vaughan Williams.
