
Schmidt Vocal Arts Announces 2025-26 Programming
By Afton MarkaySchmidt Vocal Arts has announced its full schedule for 2025-26.
The organization, led by Executive Director Linda McAlister, is committed to supporting and creating opportunities for early-career classical singers. This season’s schedule includes online offerings, master classes, webinars, and a Q&A session about its competitions for high school and undergraduate singers. Attendance at is open to all, but registration is required.
Online Series
First up is the Q&A, “Curious about the Schmidt Competition?” with SVA Executive Director Linda McAlister and Program Manager Brie Litscher.

“Navigating the German Opera System: A Guide to the World’s Largest Opera Market” is presented by Michael Pegher from OPERASCOUT.

The sixth annual “Financing Your Vocal Education” with SVA Scholarship Manager Dr. Ellen Frishberg webinar is next.

Mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton teaches a masterclass.

Baritone Lester Lynch leads a masterclass.

Dr. Paul Kwak from NYU Langone leads the webinar, “Your Vocal Health.”

Schmidt Vocal Arts’ Alumni Panel will discuss the ins and outs of Young Artist Programs.

Composer Ben Moore closes out the season’s online series with a masterclass.

Schmidt Vocal Arts alumni are invited to an immersive long weekend in New York City. Events include attendaning three Metropolitan Opera performances, the final concert of the Met’s Laffont Competition, a master class with Myra Huang, a “Lunch and Learn” Q&A with bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green, and sessions with industry professionals on topics related to careers in opera. Four alumni will be selected for this weekend, applications are due October 10.

Finalist in the high school regional competitions are invited to participate at the fifth annual National Competition in Sarasota, Florida.
