San Francisco Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘La Bohème’
By Francisco SalazarThe San Francisco Opera has announced a cast change for its production of Puccini’s “La Bohème.”
The company said that baritone Lucas Meachem, who is currently performing Marcello, will now sing the role in all remaining performances, replacing Will Liverman, who was scheduled to perform Marcello on June 13, 18, and 21. Liverman has withdrawn from the production for personal reasons.
Meachem made his San Francisco Opera debut in 2004 and has performed a wide repertoire in his 13 seasons with the company, including the title roles in Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin,” Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” and Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.” Other roles include Frank/Fritz in Korngold’s “Die tote Stadt,” Count Almaviva in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro,” Dr. Malatesta in Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale,” Mercutio in Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette,” and Sharpless in Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.” Meachem is a former San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow.
The performances of “La Bohéme” on June 13, 18, and 21 will star three new cast members in leading roles with Evan LeRoy Johnson as Rodolfo, Nicole Car as Mimì, and Brittany Renee as Musetta.
