Royal Opera’s Jette Parker Artists Programme Announces 2026-27 Cohort & 25th Anniversary Celebrations
By David SalazarThe Royal Opera’s Jette Parker Artists Programme has announced its 25th anniversary season for 2026-27, including next season’s cohort.
Singers joining the program are sopranos Hannah Edmunds and Seohyun Go, mezzo-sopranos Lily Mo Browne and Ellen Pearson, tenors Emmanuel Fonoti-Fuimaono, Giorgi Guliashvili, and Emyr Lloyd Jones, baritone Sam Hird, and bass-baritone Jack Sandison.
Music staff joining the cohort include conductor/répétiteur Avishka Edirisinghe and conductor/répétiteur Marta Misztal, alongside director Talia Stern and ballet conductor Giovanni Fanizza.
Anniversary celebrations will span the full season. A two-day festival in the Linbury Theatre, curated by Artistic Director David Gowland, will bring together the current cohort and special guests in chamber operas, recitals, and a retrospective of fully staged productions of lesser-known works.
Events include an ensemble Lieder recital featuring excerpts from Brahms’ “Liebeslieder” and Wolf’s “Italienisches und Spanisches Liederbüchlein,” a celebration of recital highlights across the program’s history, and a staged retrospective directed by Talia Stern.
The season culminates in a special edition of the annual Summer Performance on the Main Stage. Each artist will also perform an individual 45-minute lunchtime recital in the Crush Room, alongside an exhibition in the Linbury Foyer chronicling the program’s history.
In its 25 years, the program, which is supported by the Oak Foundation, has provided opportunities for over 150 artists since its founding in 2001, including Aigul Akhmetshina, Ekaterina Gubanova, Matthew Rose, Jennifer Davis, Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, and David Butt Philip.
“It has been a privilege and one of the great joys of my life to support the Jette Parker Artists Programme. Giving talented young artists the opportunity to join the Programme, to develop their artistry and to build the foundations of their careers, has been deeply rewarding,” said Jette Parker, per an official press release. “I feel immensely proud and humbled to see how the artists flourish, grow in confidence, craft and ambition, and to see so many go on to become world‑class performers, singing on the great international stages and the Royal Opera House. To witness their journeys, and to know the Jette Parker Artists Programme has played a part in shaping their futures, is a constant source of pride and inspiration.”
