PBS Announces Schedule for Broadcast of Lise Davidsen’s Metropolitan Opera Performance

PBS has announced that it will start broadcasting Lise Davidsen’s concert from the Met Opera in 2020 on May 7, 2021.

Additionally, the organization revealed that “Great Performances at the Met: Lise Davidsen in Concert” will be hitting the New York metro area on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 8 p.m. on THIRTEEN.

The performance featured the soprano taking on a wide range of music including arias from Wagner’s “Tannhäuser,” Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos,” Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” as well as songs by Sibelius and Grieg. The concert took place in August 2020 and featured the famed soprano alongside pianist James Bailleu live from the Oscarshall Palace in Oslo, Norway.

Of her performance, OperaWire’s review remarked that it was “was by far the best performance of the series to date from the technical and organizational point of view. There was a polish to not only the musical performance by Davidsen, but by the structure, pacing, and planning of the entire show. The Metropolitan Opera’s technical team thus deserves clear kudos for these efforts.”

This is the latest in the series to be broadcast. Other upcoming concert broadcasts will star Anna NetrebkoSonya YonchevaBryn Terfel, Angel Blue, and Joyce DiDonato, among others.
