Palm Beach Hosts Plácido Domingo’s U.S. Return

By Chris Ruel

Plácido Domingo is back singing in the U.S., appearing on Feb. 28 in Palm Beach.

Domingo performed in recital with maestro Eugene Kohn at the piano, singing a wide range of music from show tunes to zarzuela.

In a Reel of the performance posted to his Instagram account, the audience greets Domingo with hearty applause and cheers. Domingo appeared to have a bit of fun, both with the repertoire and sharing the stage with soprano Jennifer Rowley, with whom, at one point, he danced.

Between numbers, he related stories, one about his career and the music he grew up with, saying, “I have had the pleasure of enjoying many, many different styles of music over 60 years of my career. I’m starting with zarzuela because the repertoire that my mother and father would sing is called zarzuela, it is Spanish music. And I want to tell you that today exactly if my mother was alive, she would be 104 today, the 28th of February.”

The performance marks the first he performs in the U.S. since he was accused of sexual harassment in Aug. 2019.

Additional accusations of sexual harassment have been made against the singer as recently as Jan. 2023.
