Orpheus Music Project to Stream ‘SONGBREAK: Songs for our Wellbeing’

Minneapolis-based Orpheus Music Project will premiere “SONGBREAK: Songs for our Wellbeing,” a virtual vocal concert, on Vimeo on March 21, 2021.

The 90-minute concert will be presented in collaboration with Minnesota Community Care, which provides humanitarian-based healthcare to members of the Minneapolis community. The showcase will feature soprano Riley Cardona and bass Brian Haase alongside pianist Bryon Wilson as they perform 15 works of art song, opera, zarzuela, and American Musical theater.

“For those challenged and beaten down by this devastating pandemic, the SONGBREAK vocal series seeks to combine the expressive, emotional power of glorious voices with healing messages that can calm anxiety, comfort grief, renew hope and uplift the spirit. From the canon of timeless classical and traditional art song, opera, and musical theatre, we offer audiences, either classically-oriented or otherwise, medicinal singing of beauty and spirituality,” Orpheus Music Project Artistic Director Craig Fields told OperaWire.

Cardona hails from South Dakota and has appeared with such companies as Florida Grand Opera, Sarasota Opera, The Schubert Club, the Kenwood Symphony, Source Song Festival, St. John’s Luther and Church, and the South Metro Chorale, among others.

Haase, who hails from Wisconsin, has performed with such organizations as the Aspen Music Festival, the Schubert Club, and the Exultate Chorus.
