Opernwelt Announces 2025 Awards

Opernwelt has announced the 2025 awards of the year.

The Magazine announced the Opera Company of the year was Opernhaus Zürich, while the singers of the year went to Eleonora Buratto and Bogdan Volkov. Meanwhile, Kirill Petrenko won the Conductor of the Year.

Meanwhile the the Director of the Year was awarded to Tobias Kratzer, while the Premiere of the Year went to “Le petit pauvre d’Assise” by  Charles Tournemire at the Theater Ulm.

The Rediscovery of the Year was awarded to “The Wreckers” by Ethel Smyth at the Badischen Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Staatstheater Meiningen,  and Mecklenburgischen Staatstheater Schwerin.

“Der Idiot” by Mieczystaw Weinberg at the Salzburger Festspielen was awarded Performance of the Year and Set Designer of the Year was given to Paul Zoller.

Anna Nekhames was awarded the Young Artist award, while Orchestra of the Year went to Bayerisches Staatsorchester, Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, and Meininger Hofkapelle.

The Chor der Komischen Oper Berlin went to Choir of the year, while Christoph Marthaler: «Tiefer Graben 8» at the Theater Basel won Most unusual opera experience.

Finally, Book of the year was awarded to “Vorhang auf?” by Anselm Gerhard.
